Young Guns

Post by SheepRanger » Tue Mar 13, 2018 9:54 pm

I really hope we can hold onto the likes of Eze and Smyth. They are getting such great reviews the vultures may be circling. Hopefully theur Agents will be keen to see them develop with us.

Hopefully our budget issues will get resolved without letting these boys go.

Absolutely. It seems like only yesterday we were bemoaning the fact we had no youngsters coming through. Now our cup runneth over !

We still have Shodipo, Chair, Oteh, Tilt etc. who are more than capable of slotting into the first team.

Furlong, Manning, Smyth, Eze, BOS, with Oteh and Chair on the fringes. When was the last time we had this number of young players who'd come into the first team squad with 2 or 3 of them regularly starting? We'd have to go back decades.

Strengthen the squad around them next season and some of these could really develop into first teamers.

If we have a budget shortfall of £10m next season and a prem side offered £5m each for Eze and Smyth with 20% sell on clauses too - what woukd you do if there were no offers for Mass, Freeman and Smithies.

We might have to be more active in the loan market and loan them back, and others like Josh Bowler and Chelsea and Tottenham youth players. There is a lot more cause for optimism that the right targets will be identified.

But you'd take the cash and wish them well as needs must?

Sheep, keep it quiet mate, especially after Eze's sparkling performance tonight I can hear the vultures circling to
pick our young players off ssh

Stick em back in the U23s and put Mass and Freeman back in the shop window. We paid £3m for Mass and we need to get that money back.

Yeah but Les only got the job cuz he's an old boy and Ramsey isn't up to it. Waste of money the pair of them

Probably back in the Hucker, Neill, Dawes, Fereday, Waddock, Allen, Goddard and Stewart era although that lot came through in two phases really. Circumstances weren't dissimilar though with the likes of Parkes and Stan being sold and experienced campaigners like Gillard and Francis having to be replaced.
