Missed the game today due to the recent arrival of a brand new little super hoop in the family!

Thanks for posting the highlights. I’d seen Eze had scored but i hadn’t read anywhere that it was such a good goal!

Things are definitely moving in the right direction, which is a great achievement given the financial constrictions. Very happy tonight!

I'm afraid so yes. That's why it was so important to get 3 points on the board yesterday because I can't see us getting anything on Tuesday or next Saturday, and then it's a third away game after that at Reading. Hopefully we'll get at least a point there.

I think we are safe now, and with home games v Sheffield Wed and Birmingham on the horizon we still have opportunities to add to our current points total.

Reading haven’t won a home Sat 3pm kick off all season.

Quite a remarkable stat, hope we are not playing them on a Saturday because I’m sure we’ll oblige.

Agreed IJM. I can't see us getting anything against Villa or Fulham but at least Ollie can give the young players more game time. I'd like to see Manning get a start and BOS some time too.

I've got us pencilled in for a 52 point finish which will be plenty to secure our place for the 18/19 Championship campaign.

Yep, very poor performance overall yesterday but the young guns: Eze, Smyth, Osayi-Samuel all
played well. Scowen was great as usual and Luongo is always a favourite of mine anyway.

But when they went down to 10 we seemed laboured in trying to break them down.
Questions surrounding the management won't go away after that performance but the young players acquitted
themselves well and the recognized strikers as usual didn't!

...I was talking mainly about the boring, poor first half. I can not recall even one shot or a chance on both sides...
the second was slightly better and it would have been a real shame not to get 3 points ...

Good things from the match; our young guys - Smyth, Eze and Samuel showing speed and will to play...the ref, that was pretty good
and manage the match well. My friend told me at the beginning that he was a rookie only few matches on his tally in the Championship,
but I think he has been one of the best refs I have seen this season. Cannot remember "big mistakes" or bad decisions.

I don't think Manning would get much change out of Jedinak but, IMO, Ilias Chair may be a better replacement in there for Freeman, in a game that probably won't get anything out of, as he is much smaller than Jedinak the same as Manning, but more tricky with the ball which may induce a few fouls from the Aussie and hamper his effectiveness.
It's not the despair that will kill you, it's the hope.

Im sure we'll be mathematically safe in another five games. When that happens I would play as many of the younger players as possible to get that team prepared for next season.

If we do sell the likes for Mass, Sylla, Freeman, Smithies and Washington I really hope some of that money can be used to give Robinson the money he wants. I think he will sell for good money in a couple of years.

I'm inclined to agree although I would keep a fair bit of experience in the side for the rest of the season. We seem to have some good young forwards and midfielders but we haven't yet played any young defenders other than Furlong who is pretty much up to first team speed now. Given that we might lose Baps, Ned and Robinson we need to see a few young centre backs if possible.

I'm not sure any of the other U.23's will come through, apart possibly, from Kakay. I think the next batch will come from the U.18's but they are obviously a couple of years off yet. Tbh Furlong, Eze and Smyth isn't a bad return for now.

I agree about the ref. He understood the game well and cut the players a bit of slack when they put mis-timed challenges in. Was very refreshing to see. Also saw him consulting his assistants well. Looked like he could easily handle a big game.
