Well that turned out OK

Post by ZENITH R » Sat Mar 03, 2018 8:11 pm

Three of the teams below us lost, and a fourth only drew.

Perhaps we should take a day off more often.

Yes, I was watching an old British war film called Went The Day Well? yesterday and that's how it turned out for us. Strange that Sunderland who must be crap seem to pick up points that you wouldn't expect chiefly that draw at Brizzle after being three down at half time.

I saw that film as well the other day first time I had seen it. Makes you wonder if The Eagle Has Landed was based on it - similar storyline line of Germans disguised as English soldiers taking over a village.

May be tempting fate but Sunderland are not converting into wins - Birmingham seem to be struggling from the Redknapp touch.

Not sure whether that’s good news or not... Gary Monk is his replacement apparently.

If their “new manager bounce” is anything like the ones we've had, there's little to worry about.

'Arry screwed them over by paying big money for average players with no plan for his player acquisitions. He just bought a load of good to average players with no thought of how they would play together as a team. Does that sound familiar?

Consequently, they are screwed until they find a manager to sort out the mess.

As has been discussed on other threads, Holloway has signed a few good players cheaply, gets them motivated, well, most of 'em, but on the all important question of tactics he hasn't got a clue.

I wonder if Stoke, WBA and Paiace regret getting rid of Tony Pulis?

These "Fix it Felix" managers like Warnock and Pulis - any reason they haven't lasted for any given time, and what happens to what they leave behind at those club's?

Pulis leaves behind clubs that are established in the premiership but fans who want a bit more excitement. They'll get that in the championship or possibly League 1. Warnock gets them up and gets dumped for fancy Dan managers.

If you want to assess managers and what they leave behind then Harry gets that award.

Pulis was at Stoke for 7 years (second time around) and West Brom for nearly 3. Those are not short term tenures by modern standards.
