Les Ferdinand

A nice little interview here: https://www.theguardian.com/football/20 ... f-football

He's not liked by all Rs supporters but I think we could do a lot worse than have him as director of football.

I think he is doing a good job. I was concerned that it was just another populist appointment but i think he talks a lot of sense and has a vision for the direction the club need to go. In context, i think player recruitment has been pretty good too.

Les looks like he hasn''t put on an ounce since retirement in that photograph, while Peter Crouch's legs are absurdly long, and appear to be made of wood.

More seriously, as for Grenfell, I offer two mutually damning statistics:

1. Estimate of national safety/re-cladding measures post-Grenfell: c. £400m

2. Cost of proposed refurb of Houses of Parliament to lessen risk of fire: £3.5bn

Have a guess which way MPs recently voted regarding the latter, and which figure politicians, councils and landlords are bickering about meeting (or trying to fleece tenants for)! It'll tell you something about the country we live in.

Bringing in a manager without his mate Gareth Bale was a big call.

Mostly those that have a secret soft spot for John Terry.

Thanks for posting the interview. Les comes across well, and always has done since his playing days. Sometimes, I don't think we fully appreciate what an exemplary representative of our club he has been. And a reminder that while black coaches and managers are very rare in the game, black executives are even rarer.

On the pitch we have our grumbles, all isn't well but not disastrous,
off the pitch I for one can't complain at the regime in place, had they
been in place during our recent Premiership stint, we'd be in a much much
stronger position all round.
