He thinks he is the luckiest man in the entire football league to still be in a manager’s job... The bloke is crap. End of.

Whatever it is... we don't seem to have them. As somebody "who know's nothing about football" and to whom all the talk of tactics in modern football bores me to tears - give me defenders who defend and wingers who wing 8)

Its the opposite its a 21st century defender who can run and has to run all flipping game up and down up and down. We dont have any but we make bidwell try and do that and to be fair theres worse but not many.

In this day and age, everybody is expected to do 2 jobs.

Why should Bidwell or Furlong be different?

Whatever the reason they cannot do that job, it may well be they should but they cannot. It is no good playing them in that position because they should be able to adapt if they cannot and it is the managers job to handle that situation rather than apparently hoping someday it will click

And where was Furlong to close down Frend before he scored?

Square pegs in round holes.

We play with wing backs - is that working? Is it the most effective way for us to use the resources we currently have at our disposal?

The answer is to look at two things -

1/ How many goals are we conceding? The number of clean sheets we have kept all season is also a good indicator.

2/ How many chances/ goals are being created by the identified wing backs? The number of games where we fail to score (like Saturday) is another good indicator.

Even a cursory look at the stats from this season tells a sorry story. Terry Venables who was one of the best manager's in QPR's history said: "You build from the back". Expecting defenders to be running down the wing and creating chances as our main creative outlet flies in the face of that. It is a particular folly when there are players who have performed well both for QPR and when at other clubs (before joining QPR or out on loan) when used as wingers.

Management is not about churning out the same old, same old. It's about continual assessment and monitoring to make improvements. My issue with Ian Holloway is he doesn't do that. The old excuses about injuries, limited players, lack of transfer funds are just a smoke screen to hide the fact the manager isn't actually managing.

He was probably wondering why Chief was standing watching him like the rest of us.
