Now that pulis is gone from west brom does anybody feel Gerry would have something to offer on the coaching front as I assume he has left as well?

Im sure he'll do a great job to Wales when Pullis is appointed manager.

Ian Holloway tends to follow a pattern in most of the manager jobs he has.Initial improvement through motivation then a lessening return unless (1) he can buy new players in to keep the momentum rolling (2) Looking exhausted a changing the team in an unpredictable way when the team starts to lose.

Therefore (a) he needs to buy very very well.Buy unpolished gems etc.But he is crap at that.So that is where Penrice comes in. (b) coach players to be better footballers. Not much evidence of this either.

So what nice Mr Ian needs is the cleverest backroom team in the championship.

Answer Mr Gerry Francis.

I know he wants to avoid too much travelling so maybe just a 3 day a week job.1No matchday 2 days at base camp.
Also training ground near to home.

Go on Mr Fernandes -do it know.Telephone him.Ian will not mind.

As much as I'd love to see him back, Gerry is a defensive coach as is Curtis Fleming.

Holloway gets pretty prickly when he doesn't like a question.

Mclaren is out of work again, he'd be a good shout as a coach, but tbh, i don't see IH wanting a high profile coach under him. But that might be unfair.

What good would Francis or any other coach for that matter do for us.

You can't polish a turd, we're not quite a turd but there isn't much more your gonna get out of this bunch, it's clear who the stars are Freeman mass Smithies mixed with the others we have a comfortable lower to mid table squad.

Consolidation was the objective we seem on course for that, Francis or alike is just another strain on the wage bill that we could do without.

Given the horrendous injury problems to what are arguably the first choice defenders I don't think Fleming has done all that badly.

I too would be surprised if Ollie welcomed a more senior coach but he's always spoken so highly of Gerry Francis, perhaps he love him to come in.

Apparently they have already reinstated terror Tuesdays, which were created by Gerry, probably to balance the drinking culture that it sounds like we had!

Who knows, maybe he is coming back?
I think the last Gerry interview i heard he was a still a bit bitter over how it ended, so maybe he doesn't want to come back...

Gerry Francis is not a defensive coach. Pulis took advice on the whole team.

So GF is partly to blame for the ugly, sterile football that Stoke and West Brom routinely served up during Pulis' tenure.

Not the highest recommendation in my book.
Are headphones getting bigger, or are idiots getting smaller ?
