Given our current situation and having to work within restrictions linked to FFP, we are not going to be well placed to find a suitable replacement for Ned, especially with the inflated fees doing the rounds on the transfer market.

Come January, if we are fairly placed, you may find a prem club who will pay over the odds, if they are trying to secure safety, and it may be something to consider then, especially if the club could line up a decent loan option from that time for the second half of the season and look to the summer to find a replacement.

At the end of last season, given Onuoha's in the last year of his contract, I felt it would have been wise to see if we could get a fee for him. However, despite the much discussed major error per game, I'm now not so sure.

We're quite insecure at the back - Hall has a problematic injury, Caulker still has a big question mark against him, Baptiste as yet untried. Lynch and Perch have done okay but they don't always inspire confidence. Like it or not, our defence is structured around Onuoha at the moment - he plays centrally and usually plays deeper than the others. He also provides important continuity hardly missing a game all season.

If we were offered a big fee and had time to replace him, perhaps it would make sense. But, I can't see it happening.

So maybe it's time to accept he's not perfect, he will make mistakes and just appreciate the positives he brings to the team.

I like Onuoha as a character, albeit a very well paid one.

He never shirks a challenge and always gives his best, and has often played out of position during his career with us which hasn't helped his development. Overall he's been a good servant.

I've always felt that I wouldn't be too disappointed to see him leave though. For a player of his experience, his awareness and concentration can be quite frightening. As time goes on, they seem to be increasing all the more.

He almost cost us 2 points last weekend with a bizarre bit of play that forced Smithies to pull off a wonder save - and yesterday he couldn't sort his feet out to clear what appeared a relatively basic bit of defending which cost us the goal.

Not taking away the positives he brings, but for me he spreads panic through the whole back line. He's a much better player with an experienced player (like a Dunne) alongside him, but we don't have that currently, and if rumours are to be believed and we get Hoban from Watford...

Very little chance of a Prem club coming in for him I feel. It would be interesting to see how our defence were to cope if he was absent some a time, for instance with an injury. There was a game, probably a cup game, when he was left out. It was a shambles. He then came on as sub and sorted things out. I just can't remember which game it was.

A bobble??   There was nothing of the sort!

Ned's probably fourth best central defender at the club.

....and yet he received by far the lowest rating in the team (those who played more than 11 minutes) from QPR fans on LoftForWords.

Doesn't suit your agenda eh? I Notice you are posting your unwavering support for Ned on LFW and not getting much support for your blind loyalty over there either :D :D :D

That's astonishing if true, didn't they see him just hang out a leg
to allow Wednesday their equalizer?
