Optimistic or pessimistic ?

Post by Giorgio » Wed Jul 12, 2017 8:05 pm

...do you feel optimistic and see us on the top half of the table...with a chance to get near the play-offs...
or
pessimistic, in the lower part, fighting to survive..?

We've lost two warm up matches to Reading and Fulham respectively,
JET comes on then gets yanked off, I'm wondering whether we'll sign any new
players in the next few weeks.

It ain't looking good!!

Three warm ups if you count the Reading double-header!
If drink isn't the answer, you were asked the wrong question

Where's the 'Realistic' option?
Question everything.

Would have preferred a mid table option.

I'd go with 58-62 points coming in around 12-14th.

Holloway needs to bring this group of players together as a unit and instil some consistency into the team.

At various times these players have shown they can give teams in this division a run for their money but, the team need to be performing with more consistency.

To be fair the Fulham game was our development squad & didn't feature a single senior team member apart from Jet.

The squad is, at the very least, a first choice CB and first choice striker short. Let's face it, scoring goals at one end and keeping them out at the other is how games are won. It's clear we have no transfer war chest and are struggling to attract the players we've targeted.

This does not bode well for the coming season.

still think my May prediction of a 19th place finish is realistic

Just noticed that Boro apparently has signed Britt A from the trees on £ 60 k a week  what has the world come to ?

With this in mind my gut feeling is that we are a league 1 club with a league 1 stadium and a league 1 setup. Hopefully we will punch above our weight and finish mid table like the year when Wardley and Darlington were starring

I firmly believe that we will be fighting for the top half (of the bottom 4 places)

Top half a distinct possibility. As others have said, we have the nucleus of a decent team. It could easily click.

As to who will score goals.... ummmmm... Sylla, of course.
Keep an open mind, but not so open that your brain falls out.

Yes, we need a strong defender, improving the defence.
If you do not concede goals you don't need to score many.

But another priority to me, would be to find a fast and creative player, able to cut inside and feed the strikers....
..may be our strikers are not top of the range, but they need to get balls in the box and that was so missed last season....

To score Sylla needs to be on the pitch but while he insists on moving to attacking positions and refuses to run around like a headless chicken he won't get much game time... :?
This time we'll get it right - just believe!
