I thought you'd stopped drinking and taking drugs Lala? :D
I have unfortunately I'm still a compulsive dreamer..
Aren't we all  Survival as everyone else says is all we can hope for in reality. It's been a long time since I was so pessimistic about the coming season(but I love being proved wrong) Come on U R'ssssssssssss 8)
Damien, if you and Lala are still dreaming you need to go and lie down in a dark room somewhere until the season starts (or better still, until it's over!)

Seriously though I can't recall ever having lower expectations of a coming season, so anything above that will be gravy.

Can't wait! epray

as long as we show a bit of fight on the pitch can beat bloody Brentford at some point
It's come to a very sorry pass when our ambitions are to beat Brentford!

I don't think we will have a very successful season but I am fairly confident that it won't be as bad as this one was, and I am still coming back for more :-)

That is truly awful reading, mind you the gathering gloom suggests we won't be
far off that this season :(

I was at every home game that season. My main memory was thinking, "We'll win the next game, surely..." We badly missed Rodney who was out injured until November.

I always remembered that season as a painful one, but, a season when a lot of the games were lost by only the odd goal. I would need my best rose-coloured spectacles to see it that way now, but, somehow the team - which had arrived in the top flight from the third level in successive seasons - managed to keep buggering on. Look at the results after the 8-1 defeat at Old Trafford and although they were mostly defeats, they were by the odd goal.
It's simple. Score more goals than they do.

My first ever season, and though it was in retrospect a disaster, I loved every minute of it.

Football was fun in those days.

Mine too, and it was fun. We took a few beatings, but lost many games by the odd goal, and lady luck wasn't with us that season. No better example than a 1-1 draw at home to Spurs - Jimmy Greaves clearly handled the ball in scoring for Spurs.
Saturday 9th November 1968: QPR V Burnley in the First Division - I saw the Hoops for the first time and my obsession began!

That was the only goal he ever scored against us and yes, he definitely punched it in. I remember screaming my head off about it LOL

It seems to me that many of us on here seem to have started watching QPR around the same time - those legendary days of the late 60s.

Packed houses every game. Won nearly all of them, jumpers for goalposts... why wouldn't you support QPR?

I lied about the goal posts (for younger viewers) :D

Yes the summer of '69 for me, Hull City at home. Well autumn.

The club is aware that they have an aging fan base but currently can't do much about that unless we sign Harry Styles.

umm - if it's the same game that I recall he didn't punch it in, but was coming down the right side when the ball was played too fast and waist high but he knocked it down with his hand on to his foot and volleyed it in as one quick movement - it was actually very clever but sooooo very annoying but did make me laugh afterwards as he refused to be drawn on what had happened but simply said "well the ref gave a goal and I never argue with the referee!" fair enough aniclap

Sadly I do remember the 8-1 result at Old Trafford coming up the TV news...

We lived in a street off the Westway (Primula) and the Scrubs had new enhanced lighting installed after some escapes including George Blake a couple of years before which caused ghosting on our TV at night.

Imagine how I danced around our living room when I saw on the fuzzy screen that we had won 0-1 :D

and then the stick I got from my non-footballing family when the newsreader announced it as eight one - even all these years later I remember the utter devastation of that moment! aniwall
This time we'll get it right - just believe!
