93:20 Documentary

Post by Caroline » Sat May 13, 2017 6:29 pm

Just seen the trailer for this documentary about the Man City / QPR match in 2012!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lsk2uiWRBBw

Barton interviewed for it too apparently!

Match was five years ago today - spent ages on YouTube last night re-watching the goals, the fan reactions (inc. the Sunderland fans reaction when the news filtered through!) - still gives me goosebumps! I know we lost, but feck me, best and most dramatic match ever, considering what was at stake - so proud QPR were opposition!

we had done so well in that game to be under the kosh for most of the match yet 1-2 in the lead going into injury time. A game of mixed emotions. Was gutted to lose but so relieved to stay up and pleased that Utd missed out on the trophy

Once the players knew we were safe they lost that game deliberately to punish the cheating FA, Ferguson and bird-shit-eater young. IMO.

That's how I always saw it - we won the match, then gave them a couple of consolation goals! Having re-watched extended highlights today, Paddy Kenny really deserved MOTM... anyone know who actually got it though?! Assume it went to Aguero, but really Kenny played the match of his life IMO - could have been 7-2!

The real sad thing is that we should've pushed on the following season. But then Hughes started messing up the squad and the togetherness went. And the rest, as they say, is history. But you were right about Kenny. Are you going to the Albert Hall this week Caroline?

Its like the producers, Manchester City TV, have a vested interest/ nobody outside w12 cares who the opposition were that day.

Hi Caroline. Yep, I'll be at the Albert Hall. Should be good.

Back to the game, I wonder if QPR had won 2-3 that day in the same fashion that they won, if there'd be as much hype about it? I doubt it, even though dramatically we would've stayed up and given the title to Utd. Somehow I can't imagine the commentator shouting CISSSEEEE in the way he did AGUEROOOO!!!

I think if We had given the title to Manchester United our winning goal would have been greeted with excitement from the commentator

I can also remember quite a bit of aggro building up from City fans towards us in the stands to the right of us. When their winning goal went in it all changed to hugs and kisses!

AGUEROOOOOO still gets on my nerves today.

With hindsight it would have been better if we had gone down that season as Hughes wouldn't have been able to spend so wildly in The Championship and destroy the club.

I thought exactly the same, at worst we would have been in the same position with a lot more money.
