Had a similar thread about this recently and I think DM more or less had it covered.

For what it's worth my take is...

Nedum Onuoha - A year left on his contract. A good servant of the club but his performances continue to worsen. Would command a useful fee.
Steven Caulker - if any club would take him.
Michael Doughty - won't make it at this level. We'd get a fee.
Conor Washington - another I don't feel will make it at this level. We'd get something back for him.
Kazenga LuaLua - end of loan. Don't like him. Plays for himself.
Jamie Mackie - end of contract and probably end of playing days at this level.
Ravel Morrison - end of loan.
Ariel Borysiuk - would expect him to stay in Poland, possibly at Lechia and we'd get something for him.
Ben Gladwin - league 1 player at best and we'd get something for him.
Jay Emmanuel-Thomas - if any club will take him.
Abdenasser El Khayati - ADO Den Haag may well want to keep him and we'd get something for him.
Reece Grego-Cox- end of contract and doesn't appear to be good enough.

That looks like a lot of players but, should all of them go, 5 new players would actually be all we need for the first team squad.
Agree with all of that.

I'd also add:
Karl Henry - Out of contract and hasn't played due to a barney with Olly.
James Perch - A year left on his contract and has been inconsistent/poor since day one. Would hopefully attract some sort of fee.

I also get the feeling Sylla will move on due to lack of starts.
I make that 15? And I think we could afford to let them all go.

I do, though, think Borysiuk might stay and Lua Lua might sign permanently. Not my choice but what I think is likely to happen. Will IH ditch Onuoha? And more worryingly might he not ditch Perch?

If Penrice is as good at the scouting bit as we've told then he should have a list of suitable players sitting waiting on LR desks tomorrow morning and be looking to add to the list. I would suggest 6-8 to replace those leaving. One or two more couldn't hurt but less would mean some of those mentioned above might have to stay as squad players --- and that would not, IMO, be in our best interests.

Hall
Lynch
Bidwell
Goss
Luongo

Get rid:

Don't know, will leave Ollie to decide:

Sylla

35 players in that list!
No wonder we're losing money

7 EDS players and 3 currently on loan in that list so it's not the first team squad. However, I think we could decrease the number of players a bit.

IH said in his last interview that it will take two transfer windows to sort the team out. It really does question the last two transfer window dealings which were meant to bring in the right players to replace our highly paid premiership flops.

Another 2 windows before we can get rid of Caulker, and even more before we can get rid of JET.

That's out of the struggling managers handbook.

Imo it's already a lower mid-table squad. But it's probably going to take longer than that to get it ready to challenge.

Signing JET to such a long contract was definitely one of the poorer moves that Les and Lee have made. The Caulker who started last season was an asset. Hopefully, we can get a decent season out of him while looking for a replacement.

I know a fair few Swindon fans. They were very disappointed when we took Doughty back. They were very disappointed when we sent Gladwin back.

I hear the same tail.
They'd love Doughty but think he's too good for L2 and that L1 is about his level

The former was a waste of everyone's time.

Money dictates and as we won't be spending much I doubt the squad will change to any great extent unless we sell Smithies.

Most top level clubs have the odd misfit player in their reserve squads who is fancied by nobdy there and who they just want rid of.

Marsh and Tarrabt come to mind as examples.

I assume that was the logic behind Morrison.

How much do we think Smithies is actually worth though?
Joe Hart was £12m and Lloris was £16.5m

Do we think Smithies is on the same level? I think he's a future international, but I don't see him going for more than £6m
Bearing in mind average strikers in the Championship have gone for more than £10m, is it actually worth selling him at all?

I guess selling may be worth it if youre the one writing cheques for £15m every season to keep us in business.
