Team for Rotherham...

Post by Gyrangers87 » Tue Mar 14, 2017 5:48 pm

I'd like to see this:

Smithies
Furlong Lynch Hall Bidwell
Manning Goss
Yeni Morrison Wszolek
Sylla

Not to underestimate Rotherham but they are on a poor run and we have all but secured safety I'd like to see a slightly more experimental line up.

Whatever the line-up, our only thought must be to hammer another nail into their relegation coffin with as much relish and panache as we can muster. Not least to expunge the memory of that dismal defeat up there in December, when IH made his er, idiosyncratic, 'these results are imposters' post-match comment. (Interestingly, I'd remembered that game as under Hasselbaink's stewardship - some kind of neurological Schadenfreude, evidently. Happily, either way, it now seems another spiritual era from where we are now.)

An entertaining 2-2, with the Rs coming from behind to equalise at the death with a Sylla rescue act. Four yellow cards. No one will break his leg. There'll be a bit of sun and a spot of rain.

We're all but safe and playing the bottom side who have lost all but one of their away games. So we should approach at least some of the games that are left as a pre-pre-season and give fringe players a chance to show what they can do in full match conditions.

Smithies
Furlong - Onuoha - Lynch - Bidwell
Luongo - Goss
Wszolek - Washington - Ngbakoto
Sylla

I won't rest easy until we are definitely safe, so no experimenting for me. Field our best team and go for a convincing win.

I'm so happy with the way the squad accepts the way Ollie picks the team. I know which 15 players I want to see but who to leave out of the starting line up.
I'll leave that to Ollie, he's doing all right so far.

I thought we did that in the reverse fixture and look where it got us. The priorities should be:

1/ revenge for that humiliating defeat
2/ improve our negative goal difference
3/ breed confidence
4/ have one of those days where every QPR fan can relax, and go home happy
Saturday 9th November 1968: QPR V Burnley in the First Division - I saw the Hoops for the first time and my obsession began!

Morrison should not get any game time for me. He's only on loan, he shows no real desire to want to stay with us, we don't need him as a desperate punt for creativity to stay up.

All in all it seems a waste of money and I wouldn't want to see him involved for the rest of the year when we could be giving game time to other younger players who we own and need experience to improve.

Hence me making the point. Even this season it's maybe happened twice.

Of course the QPR way is to stuff it up! Memories of losing to Swindon home and away (I was at both games) in their only Premier League season. They were the whipping boys and everyone beat them (often thrashed them) - except us. Has a familiar ring.

Rotherham have lost their last 6 games. Scored 4 times and let in 17.

The last 11 games: W 1 D 1 L 9 F 6 A 24
Saturday 9th November 1968: QPR V Burnley in the First Division - I saw the Hoops for the first time and my obsession began!

Wasn't it with a view to a permanent transfer? It's not a move i would have made, but other than some Holloway ramblings it's hard to know what Morrison's level of motivation is. I guess the question is, do we give him a couple of games to see if there is the hunger there and if he's still got it? If that is the case then he could be one of the top players in the division. If it's not the case which is highly likely we pack him off back Lazio. It was an odd decision but now we've made it, then we should probably at least try and make something of it. At the moment we don't really have a game changer who's got that bit of magic, so there is at least some merit in it.
