on (not) playing two up top

Post by stainrod's elbow » Sun Dec 18, 2016 10:12 pm

Re two up, one up, or none, it seems as if a number of people (myself included until tonight) missed Bircham's remarks on the Offish ahead of the Villa game.

“We want to play with attacking players and look to play two up front, like we did against Norwich.

“But (Sebastian) Polter and (Idrissa) Sylla have both been carrying knocks, so that's put pay to that since then."

(Like Ollie, his heart's clearly in the right place, but his knowledge of English plumbs new depths in the lexicon of football management, calling the Derby result 'bittersweet'. Not sure why he didn't just resort to the 'bitter pill to swallow' cliche.)
