That wasn't the first time that Germany had failed to advance in Russia. 8)

Why am I enchanted by SBS World Cup presenter, the lovely Lucy Zelic, even though I know she's Ned's "as versatile as an egg " younger sister! I must be both old and sad!
Question everything.

Lmao.

They may have done better if their Panzers ran on Diesel, but it seems they've always had problems with those engines.

And they invented garden gnomes.

England have never had an easier route to the semis. Columbia then Sweden or Switzerland. I cannot see them making it although so far they've done a lot better than I expected. The semi's will bring either Croatia, Spain or Russia with the Danes as outsiders. That's where it's anyone's game. Is it possible that England and Russia weren't bothered about coming 2nd in the group - Now they're in the easy side of the draw?

Not being unpatriotic but other countries' national anthems always sound better than ours...most especially France and Russia. We should change ours to Land Of Hope And Glory. Now that's a choon !

Agreed. The Russian anthem is very stirring. I prefer Jerusalem to LoH&G, but would rather a brand new piece.

Yes, Jerusaem would be a good shout. Interestingly, nobody is sure who wrote our national anthem. It may actually be French. Some say English people started singing patriotic words to the tune in public places to annoy the French with whom we were at war. Well, we usually were at war with 'em !

I think the English and British anthems should be different, and neither should be God save the Queen.

If only they played the anthems after an event then if Andy Murray wins they can play the British Anthem, otherwise 'Flower of Scotland'
