Never an incisive analyst but clearly a lover of the game, Motty became like a pair of old slippers; probably past it a long time ago but just part of the everyday. For me he's been okay and there are other commentators I find far more annoying than him.

Legend and the sat night highlight back in the day early 90's..

Used to look forward so much to match of the day on a sat night, before the days of social media and streaming etc.

Now there is no anticipation or enjoyment to seeing a goal hit the net, it's in the palm of your seconds later, Back in the day waiting all day for your match of the day highlights was great, old Des presenting and Motty commentating loved it.

Give me those two over the big eared twat / danny Murphy and knob head Jonathan Pearce any day of the week.

Motty & the sheepskin enjoy the rest of your days, you've earned it.

During the War, I got the chance to visit the exec boxes at Barnet and was queuing up for some food when a voice from behind me said:

"I'll just need to stop you there as I would just like to find some potatoes."

I thought, "hang on, that voice sounds familiar?"

Turning on my heels I saw him, Motty, helping himself to some new potatoes.

Suppose you had to be there.

Exec boxes and Barnet in the same sentance just doesn't sound right.
