Gambling

It looks like the FA is doing the right thing, for once. This is from the FT:

The Football Association, the governing body of English football, has pulled out of a sponsorship deal with Ladbrokes Coral worth up to £4m a year, following concerns about the gambling industry’s influence over the national game.

On Thursday, the FA announced it had terminated a four-year contract with the FTSE 250 betting group that was signed only last year.

The decision came after Greg Clarke, the FA chairman, instigated a review into the sponsorship agreement, questioning whether it was appropriate for the organisation to have commercial partnerships with betting companies while it also had the authority to ban players for gambling on football matches.

The decision surely followed as a result of Barton's testimony.....?
