Re: Holloway and this team

Despite seeming an answer to prayers (and quite possibly being what saves us from relegation). the winning run is/was actually bad news. It proved this group could play and could win. That they have now slipped back to a stage where they seem unable to win (or even just avoid defeat) has to be worry...

Re: General Election

. Normal people don't read the Guardian (especially on-line) and so none would be doing an on-line poll. And that could be safely said to be highly likely to give a skewed result. Is that in a normal for Norfolk kind of sense? Probably normal for anywhere outside our mighty capital. And then Guardi...

Re: General Election

Its being suggested that many Labour voters will vote Tory to get rid of Corbyn. By 4 O clock this afternoon 62% of people who responded to a Guardian online poll wanted Corbyn to be PM. There is a definite groundswell of support for him which is solidly ignored by the media, both written & televis...

Re: You know you're old when. ..

Peas are for young people. Petite pois for young and pretentious people.

Old people don't need veg, Zip Fit can provide for all nutritional and hormonal needs in tablet or capsule form. And they deliver as well.

Re: General Election

People (those who don't understand how a democratic parliamentary system works) wil always moan that she wasn't elected to run the country. She was (but that's another matter). By winning an election as Tory leader she will destroy that argument and strengthen her own mandate to deal with Brexit. Sh...

Re: General Election

Being a Kent resident means, as has been historically constant for voters in Kent, I have little choice. I will vote but with only two non-Tory MPs in Kent (both down on the Sussex border in Brighton and Hove --- One Labour with a majority of less than a thousand and one Green) it's safe to say Ther...

Re: Do you want Harry to keep Brum up?

...Don't care....my interest is limited to what is happening at LR... I'm with you on that. But it's not about caring --- It's about being blindly judgemental basing opinions on emotions and bigotry and not ever logic or facts. And those left on here as the number of posters seemingly dec...

Re: I'm scratching my head ...

Swansea, Brighton and Stoke (all mentioned in the thread) all developed new grounds.

And yet we still have people playing the old "Let's stay at Loftus Road" tune.

If you really want lower league football played in what is now an antiquated stadium, go and support the Orient.

Re: QPR v Swindon 20.09.1969

Just spotted this on LfW. Worth watching for some nice examples of Marsh's skill and for rare footage of Alan Wilks, a player who once scored 5 goals in one game for QPR. Oxford in the League cup. And it sticks in my mind because I'm sure I remember watching from behind the School End goal. No idea...

Re: Prediction of final table

I'm leaning towards thinking we'll have enough to survive (or enough of the strugglers won't). What worries me more is the post-match statement. I genuinely thought IH was experimenting in the last four games in preparation for next season but it seems he wasn't. He was trying to win them (or at lea...

Re: Player of the Year Event Cancelled

The club are apparently getting those who organised the POTY event to replace it by staging a party night (loads of booze) at a beer-producing facility in Chiswick or Wandsworth.

Re: Right Said Fred

According to The Daily Star, Queens Park Rangers are mulling over whether to offer a contract to Charlie Owens. Charlie Owens is currently playing in the academy at Tottenham Hotspur but he has not been offered a new deal at White Hart Lane and he is therefore looking for a new club. The talented y...

Re: looking up

A point I made in an earlier post --- managers want "winners" who will compete at all times at anything because it's in their nature. You can only tell that in games where there is nothing to really play for. Brighton encouraged hope but it was a biggish game given their position. Now we (and IH) ne...

Re: Interesting story in The Guardian

The old "An academy is our hope for the future" thing. Are they? Really?? Especially given this latest example. Acadamies are fine if you are a rich and famous club that can bend the rules and nick all the talent from below. Then you put scores of them into your academy for 18 months and, if any sh...
