Lee Wallace

Post by UxbridgeR » Fri Jun 14, 2019 5:30 pm

The shopping spree continues...

Queens Park Rangers have signed goalkeeper Liam Kelly from Livingston for an undisclosed fee and brought in Lee Wallace on a free transfer.
Kelly, 23, featured 43 times for Livi last season before triggering a clause in his contract allowing him to leave the Scottish Premiership outfit.
Wallace, 31, joins after eight years with Scottish giants Rangers.
Kelly has agreed a four-year deal at Loftus Road, while left-back Wallace has signed a two-year contract.
R's boss Mark Warburton previously worked with Wallace at Ibrox during his time in charge of Rangers.
"Liam has great distribution and he is a very good shot-stopper," Warburton told the club website.
"Lee is a natural leader and did a fantastic job for me while I was up there."
Scotland squad keeper Kelly and Wallace are QPR's first signings since last August.
The west London club were under a transfer embargo in January after breaching Financial Fair Play regulations.

Wallace is on a 'free' though isn't he? I realise 'free' doesn't mean without cost.

Poetic licence. Two signings in a few hours after none for nearly a year feels like a "spree".

If Fifa stats are to be believed, these are his traits:

Injury Prone
Avoids Using Weaker Foot
Team Player

Seems like he has a very high work rate too

..reading now on the Irish R's page on FaceBook plenty of nice messages from Ranger's fans, wishing Wallace all the best and thanking him for all
that he did at Ilbrox....calling him a "true legend" a "great captain" and a "loyal servant".... so it sounds encouraging...

Best teams come together with a blend of players with different attributes - who would have thought the likes of Clint Hill and Shaun Derry would have such an impact.

They were excellent no question, and the defensive statistics were very impressive in our promotion year. It helped bigly to be able to have Taraabt to aim at the opposition though.

I was thinking about the impact that Adel had on them too but would it be fair to say that Hill and Derry had an impact on Adel's game too - something that you could probably say about most of the players in the squad during that season.

Yes, fair comment Devon. The whole team was well balanced and meshed in a way reminiscent of the 75/76 team imo

It greatly helped that we were able to get Wayne Routledge and Kyle Walker in for that season too.
