Manning

A fine match today. Looks like our left back problem for next season has been eliminated. I quite like Bidwell, but I don't think a contract renewal at his relatively high wage is a good idea now.

Agree with this: its only two games but he's done really well so far.

He looked good there in the game or two last season. I hope we play him there to the end of the season to get a proper look but so far he's been very comfortable there and we may well not be able or willing to meet the option in Bidwell's contract.

And it's not only Manning who is reinventing himself. Scowen is too. He's become an all action, box to box midfielder.

I think the caretaker manager should take sone credit for the player switches which have worked well. If we are to consider sherwood, I’d give eustace the job before him any day.

I like Eustace's comments on the Offish. I know they are only sound bites and I know its a lot easier to strike the right chords after three games than it is after several (as evidenced at Ma U) but I like his demeanour. I am worried that Sherwood is completely the wrong type for the club.

I thought I could recall when Eustace was appointed to the coaching staff that there were comments about him being highly thought of in footballing circles as future management material.

Something to be said for at least giving him these games - although he has played Manning and brought Walker to the bench, his use of BOS has still been more from the bench than starting in his three games in charge and Eze hasn't seen a starting slot either. So whether he is the manager we need I do not know but his use of the squad over the last couple of games in terms of player rotation, tactics and player motivation seems pretty spot on.

One thing I noticed with SMc is that during the bad run of games (ie 8 games in 24 days) he kept virtually the same line up and to me some of the players look exhausted. I know they are professional etc but when your opponent has had a lot of rest it's not surprising we lost so many. Bad management maybe? Ironic when for years we've been moaning about not sticking with the same lineup but Eustace got it right yesterday whereas most of us would've stuck with Wells and Smith up front.

Makes you wonder WTF goes on in training 😳 Manning would have shown up as a better LB than Bidwell if he’d had the chance.

Well said. Scowen has been really good lately.

Both Manning and Scowen were great under IH but regressed under SMc. I wonder if they are glad he has gone?

Shitewood is wrong for any club.
