Starting XI for next season

Post by karateelvis » Tue Apr 17, 2018 12:42 pm

Looking at the current squad, who would you want to be included in our starting XI next year?

For me:

Smithies
Bidwell
Furlong
Scowen
Luongo
Freeman
Wszołek

Matt Smith has earned the right to be there or thereabouts.

Same with Smyth and Eze.

Maybe I’m naive but I’m not resigned to losing Onuoha / Robinson until it actually happens.

I think baptiste and lynch will be involved too.

Anything could happen in the summer with players leaving and a few coming in so it's only fun speculating at the moment.

We have been so inconsistent this season that some changes will be welcome. Our midfield, on the face of it, has been the strong point of the team but I remain unconvinced as we have lost so many midfield battles during the season.

If we keep any two of Smithies, Ingram and Lumley we are ok there.

Defensively we looking to be losing Onuoha, Robinson and Perch. Furlong's form is a concern as is Hall's fitness so we are short there.

Midfield we are good in numbers and a good base standard but as I say I think something is missing.

Up front you would expect Conor to move on with Mackie and maybe Sylla which would leave us with Smith and a bunch of youngsters.

Not much wrong with Furlong IMO

"We've lost so many midfield battles": Luongo, highest number of tackles in the league.

I hope we sell Smithies, and I doubt we will be able to afford either Robinson or Onuoha, so for me:

Ingram

Furlong
Bidwell
Baptiste
Lynch

Luongo
Scowen
Freeman

Eze
Smith
Smyth

ST already renewed

I see Shodipo says he hopes to make the first team squad next season: https://www.getwestlondon.co.uk/sport/f ... t-14540043

There was a time when he was knocking on the door but I don't think he's going to make it at QPR, particularly when the first team squad is well stocked with wide players such as Paul Smyth, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Pawel Wszolek and David Wheeler. Plus there are others in the U23's who are looking promising.
