Another good example of one we missed out on is Chris Mepham at Brentford. Bournemouth bidding for him today in the region of £6 million.

Massive QPR fan but we didn’t have a look at him before Brentford took him on
And I have it on good authority from a Brentford pal of mine that Mepham is mustard, keeping Egan out of the team & for me Egan is the best CB in the division & Brentford Captain.

Just how do Brentford do it, just how do they do it.

Every Brentford fan I’ve spoken to says exactly the same! He’s happy to stay with Brentford and play games but Imagine the money Bournemouth would be offering him

Not sure there is anything in this Bruno to Watford!

Agree with what someone else said, nobody was bothered when he went, he is scoring goals now at 'Non-League' level but he was seen as very average (at best) when he was at Stevenage on loan.

Not sure we can keep every young player in the hope that some turn out to be good enough!

There will always be the odd case of players 'getting away'

Stevenage had a player in their academy Keinan Davis for a couple of years, he wasn't seen as good enough so they let him go. He joined a local small club playing way down the pyramid (Biggleswade) and then got singed a year later by Aston Villa and is now a regular!

Fascinating! Read it when it first came out and again now. We could learn an awful lot from what they're doing.

I hadn't seen this before but what a good article!

Should be compulsory reading for everyone on this board before being allowed to post. I suppose that also having an exam to check that you've understood it would be seen as going to far :?

Makes you wonder if Huddersfield used the same logic when dropping their Academy a few weeks ago?

And so much more than just whether to have an Academy or not - it really is about making the Club into a modern adaptable Business rather than the traditional risk taking game playing of the past.

This time we'll get it right - just believe!

Bigbobb.. There are these thingies... like :P
that you can use after making up qualification criteria for us cave dweller types.

Or you can just tell me to pribbling idle-headed giglet off...
Keep an open mind, but not so open that your brain falls out.

We should follow the Brentford approach, ideal for a club like ours.

We certainly need to change something with the likes of Bruno Andrade and Barkley Miguel-Panzo going on to much better things after we have released them.
