The word legend is overused, but entirely appropriate for her. RIP.

She's a reminder of what a genuine musical icon is.

You should put artists in inverted commas when speaking of the rubbish being peddled to young folk today !

For sure. We had the best of it. Sad news.

Sheeran does, at least, seem like quite a nice chap. His music is nondescript but that's how a lot of people like their music. I suppose his “ talent “, is recognising that fact and giving 'em what they want.
Not for me though...

You haven't listened to George Ezra then?

Have to agree he seems a nice chap, and you summed it up very well about giving the punters what they want...but that imo is what is wrong with music nowadays. In my day bands and artists did what they more or less liked to do, and if the public liked it, great.

My brother-in-law has always liked bland music - the Carpenters, Rumor, James Galway (!) but it's even worse now, he likes someone called John Legend and even went to see him in Glasgow. The music is so weak and wishy-washy, I'm surprised it makes its way out of the speakers. DearJesus !

Nice story mate...don't mind the Carpenters tbh, Karen C had an amazing voice, but Rumer is just a KC rip off. Generally though I'm a 70's rock/prog/punk fan, proper music imo :D ...I currently have over 600 cd's and I reckon 90% are 70's bands, and most of those are albums I had on vinyl back in the day.
